Mentalist, Mind Reader or Magician?
The terms overlap, and which one you use usually says more about where you are from than what happens in the room.
Is a mentalist the same as a mind reader?
Yes — they are two words for the same performer. “Mentalist” is the term used almost universally in America; “mind reader” is more common in the UK. Roberto is booked under both — see his mind reader page.
What is the difference between a mentalist and a magician?
A magician makes objects behave impossibly. A mentalist makes thoughts do it — naming a word someone only imagined, predicting a free choice, or describing a memory out loud. Roberto performs both, but the mentalism is what guests talk about. His close-up magic and mentalism are usually performed side by side.
Do you need a stage, sound or lighting?
No. Roberto arrives fully self-contained. Close-up mentalism needs nothing but the guests themselves; for larger seated audiences a handheld microphone is helpful but not essential.
Is it real mind reading?
It is real psychology used to create a genuinely impossible experience. Roberto never claims supernatural ability — and audiences find the honest version considerably more unsettling than the alternative.
Do you perform for American clients?
Frequently. US corporate clients, American couples marrying in the UK and international summits make up a significant part of the diary, in London and overseas.
How far ahead should I book?
Peak dates — December, and summer Saturdays — are typically taken three to four months ahead. Shorter notice is often possible midweek, so it is always worth asking.
